2015 United Way of Cumberland County Falls a little short

Early in 2015 the Board of Directors set the Campaign goal at $150,000.   Executive Director, Cathy Skinner reported the audited 2015 Campaign came in at $149,637. We realize $363. is a very small  shortfall but this total is down almost $12,000. compared to 2014 Campaign.   Skinner reported that the directors realized early on that the 2015 year was going to be a challenge. Armed with the knowledge that there was going to be several business closures along with lay-offs in other businesses the directors adjusted the strategic plan to reflect this.  Skinner feels the numbers do not reflect the hard work and dedication that was put in by our volunteer Board of Directors and our many in-house volunteer canvassers.  A huge” THANK YOU” goes out to the community minded businesses and the residents of Cumberland County that donate to our campaign every year.  These businesses and donors realize what it means to have social programs that are being offered to families, individuals, children and seniors in need of help.  Skinner says a comment made by one donor says it all, “People need to realize by giving a small amount each pay we are paying it forward.  We need to ensure that programs are going to be offered in our communities for years to come and when someone in my family need the help these services will still be here.”
